Halal7 helps people find halal food, mosques and Muslim services, and offers free tools like prayer times and an ingredient scanner. We collect as little information as possible. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information you give us
- Suggestions and corrections. When you suggest a place or a correction, we store the details you enter. Your name and email are optional; if you give them, we use them only to ask follow-up questions about your suggestion.
- Business claims. If you claim a business, we ask for your name, email and phone number so we can confirm you work there. We keep these details with the listing so we know who manages it. We do not show your email or phone on the site.
- Contacting us. If you email us, we keep the conversation to answer you.
Information used on your device only
- Your location. If you tap “Use my location”, your browser shares your approximate position to find places and prayer times near you. We do not store your location on our servers. The tools page remembers the last location you chose in your own browser so you don’t have to type it again.
- Recent scans. The ingredient scanner remembers your last few scanned products in your own browser. You can clear this by clearing your browser’s site data.
- Camera. The scanner uses your camera only while it is open, only to read barcodes, and never records or uploads images.
Services we rely on
Some features load information from other services. When they do, those services receive your device’s IP address and the request, under their own privacy policies:
- Open Food Facts — receives the barcode you look up, to return product ingredients.
- AlAdhan — receives the coordinates of the location you chose, to calculate prayer times.
- OpenStreetMap — provides the map images.
- Google Fonts and unpkg.com — provide the site’s font and map software.
Cookies and analytics
Visitors do not need an account, and we do not use advertising cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. If we add visitor statistics in the future, we will update this page first.
How we use and share information
We use what you send us only to run and improve listings. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it except with service providers that host the site, or if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep suggestion and claim details as long as the related listing exists, or until you ask us to delete them. Rejected suggestions are deleted.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal details we hold about you by emailing admin@halal7.com. Business owners can ask us to update or remove their listing at any time.
Children
Halal7 is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
